Now that you are planning a fiftieth anniversary celebration for your parents, you're going to see how much time and effort they put into preparing for your wedding. Here are some ideas that might help you to plan something that all who attend will enjoy and remember for a very long time.

First Things First - Unless you know for sure that your parents would love a surprise party, the first thing to do is to meet with them. You'll need to get a list of all the guests they want on the invitation list so that you can plan where the event will be held, what the menu will be, and what the activities will be. Be sure to put everything in writing, including the date and the time of the event. Go over the calendar very carefully so that you can proceed with the invitations. For example, if you plan together for a certain date and then your dad remembers that he planned a cruise during that time, you'd be having to notify everybody of a change for the event.

The Location - If your parents want an intimate celebration with only family members and very close friends in attendance, your life just got a lot easier. For a small group your house would be a lovely setting. Another option for a small group is to reserve a large dining room in a restaurant. Do you have a spacious home and backyard? If so, having a large group will not be a problem for you, especially if you have the event catered. Renting a banquet hall is another excellent option. Some hotels and restaurants actually have large banquet halls that would be perfect for your parent's anniversary celebration. In addition, they will have the tables and chairs you'll need for your large group.

The Dinner - Whether you have a buffet where guests serve themselves or whether you have a dinner served by waiters, it's a good idea to offer several choices to your guests. A choice between roast, breaded chicken or honey baked ham with various sides would be an example of a varied menu. White wedding cake and a chocolate groom's cake would be a perfect dessert.

As guests leave the event, send them home with a party favor. One idea is to give each person a little box of chocolates with a message that reads something like, Thank You For Celebrating Our Sweet Fiftieth With Us! Contact a venue, such as the Banquet Facilities by White Shield Banquet Halls, for more information.

About Me
A Birthday to Remember

My maternal grandmother is an amazing woman. When I was a kid, she prepared my meals, bought me gifts, and showered me with affection. When I married my husband ten years ago, I had to move a distance of seventy-five miles away from this special woman due to my spouse’s job. Now, every year on her birthday, my parents, my sister, my husband, and me take my grandmother to her favorite restaurant. This particular eatery serves delicious cheese biscuits. Whenever my grandmother dines at this establishment, she always eats at least three of these flaky biscuits. And, she usually orders a box of them to take home with her.
